What make a good friend

Suppose one day you are facing a dilemma, which you have to choose either live 100 more years alone, or live only 20 more years with your friends. Usually, most of people will choose the second choice. Cause human beings are social base creature. Friend is an essential element of our life, especial a good friend always plays a significant role in every part of your life, studying, working and socializing. Therefore, a good friend should be helpful, reliable and upward.
Your friends are helpful to your life. On the way we are growing up. There are always tons of unpredictable difficulties ahead; waiting us to solve them. However, sometimes we cannot solve the problems by ourselves. People are easy to lose themselves when they are a part of the problems. At this moment, a good friend can always give you a hand and guild you across the storm to the safe harbor. In order to help you, your good friend must understand you and your situation. To understand you, he should talk to you frequently and has common words with you. He or she might have same hobbies as you do; work in the area as you do. However, there are some good friends who do not have many common with you, but they have good personality or various experiences, which can help you by giving you guiding advise which related to their own experience.
Your friends should always be reliable. Trust, the most basic thing, which is also the most important thing when we are dealing with other people. People usually talk important things and sometimes even secret with their good friends. Therefore, the precondition is your good friend will seriously treat with your important information; he will not misguide you for reasons other then helping you.
Your friends should also have the upward mobility. There is a famous sentence said by Confucius: one takes on the color of one's company. Therefore, your friends’ mobility can directly affect your mobility. The influence is everywhere. Sometimes watching their actions and chatting casually are able influence you. In another word, if your friends study hard and do well then you shall study hard and do well also, vice verse.
As a conclusion, there are three basic qualities for a good friend, helpful, reliable and upward. However, we are living in a society, which is becoming more and more complex than the minute before. I cannot help remembering that the words Churchill once said, "A country does not have permanent friends, only permanent interests." Sometimes friends are as same as the country.
